Day 8. BOCAS DEL TORO TOUR. (B, L, D). Today the group will have a great day taking part of several amazing tours around the island. Dolphin Bay is a lagoon in Bocas del Toro that hosts bottlenose dolphins throughout much of the year. Known locally as Laguna Bocatorito, Dolphin Bay is located between the east side of Cristóbal Island and an irregularly shaped peninsula that juts out from the mainland. It’s about 6 miles (10 km) from Colón Island, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes to reach by boat.
At its widest point the bay is 4 miles (6 km). The bay has calm waters and is surrounded by mangroves, which draw an abundance of small fish and crustaceans into the water—this makes it a perfect habitat for dolphins, especially mothers and calves. The best time of year to see dolphins is June and July, when rough seas make the calm water of the bay especially appealing for dolphins. The dolphins are usually spotted in pairs, or in pods of five or six.
After the dolphin´s encounter, we will continue our journey to a very special place called Cayo Coral.
The coral reefs emerging around Cayo Coral are among the most beautiful in the Bocas del Toro archipelago. Their particularly calm, clear waters, sheltered from the caprices of the open sea, have led to the development of fine, colorful coral, attracting varied underwater life. They are on the surface of the open waters, and can only be reached by boat. Lunch will be included in a nice restaurant surrounded by crystal waters and coral reef.
Continuing our journey, we will be visiting Red Frog Beach. The afternoon will be spent at Red Frog Beach one of the premier beaches of the region. Spend a few hours at this oceanfront beach with waves, sand and sun. Late afternoon your adventure returns to Bocas Town. Diner in Town.
